‘Introduction’, il nuovo Greatest Hits di Kathryn Williams

Kathryn Williams pubblica ‘Introduction’,
il Best Of con dodici brani, una traccia scelta da ognuno
dei suoi dischi che coprono 23 anni di carriera

Pluripremiata singer-songwriter folk, nominata ai Mercury Prize e con 23 anni di onorata carriera, Kathryn Williams, in occasione del Record Store Day 2022 pubblica ‘Introduction‘, un nuovo Greatest Hits che arriva a tre anni dalla precedente retrospettiva, un cofanetto che conteneva 10 dei suoi precedenti album, 10 bonus album, 2 libri, testi e cimeli. Le 12 tracce contenute in ‘Introduction’ sono state scelte dagli album pubblicati in tutti questi anni, un’interessante panoramica della scrittura e della carriera dell’artista.

Definita come una ‘cantautrice di canzoni’, Kathryn Williams ha, negli anni, conquistato numerosi riconoscimenti, il plauso della critica e una fedele fan base. ‘Introduction’ è una celebrazione del suo singolare talento e dell’impressionante catalogo, tra ballate pop e brani acustici che vantano un lirismo poetico impareggiabile, tra una scrittura consapevole e composizioni meravigliosamente curate che ripercorrono la sua carriera sin dal debutto nel 1999, con un brano scelto per ognuno dei 12 album pubblicati.

“This record feels like such a mad thing, a vinyl introduction album. I remember at art college I bought an introduction to Nick Drake and John Martyn which turned me onto all of their records which I still love. Without those introduction albums I may not have taken a chance on their work. I love the idea of someone discovering my music for the first time, just like I did with lots of artists. I feel so lucky to be still making music and writing songs. There is so much beauty, heartache, love and longing to capture and I never tire of the chase. Having just one track from each record was so hard to decide but listening to the test pressings it was great hearing them back to back” afferma Kathryn Williams.

Dal successo di ‘Little Black Numbers’ – nominato ai Mercury Prize – fino al tributo a Sylvia Plath con ‘Hypoxia’ e al recente album ‘Midnight Chorus’ scritto con Carol Ann Duffy, Williams ha anche collaborato e registrato con artisti tra cui Chris Difford, Ted Barnes, Thea Gilmore, John Martyn, Joel Salakula, Tobias Froberg, Ed Harcourt, James Yorkston, Marry Waterson, Boo Hewerine e Paul Smith.
